1. Academic Competitions

NES students competed and won 1st place for grade levels 3-5 in the Math Challenge 24 Competition. Our students also participated in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl, STEM Challenge, and District Spelling Bee Competition.

 2. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Celebrations

PBIS Celebrations were held at NES in an effort to reward students that met the S.O.A.R. Expectations. These expectations ensured that our students were safe, organized, accountable, and respectful throughout the school year. Northcutt received a score of 96.8 for our product book for PBIS. Our SOAR expectations were met and created a positive school culture focused on teaching and learning.

3. Academic Accolades

NES decreased its beginning learners in 5th Grade ELA by 20%, increased its developing learners by 7%, proficient learners by 9% and distinguished learners by 5% on the GMAS.

We showed phenomenal growth on the Spring MAP assessment. All grade levels show growth from Winter to Spring on the MAP assessments in reading and math.

Math: Increased percentage by 8 points from Winter to Spring

Reading: Increased percentage by 5 points from Winter to Spring

4. Reading Initiatives

NES promoted reading initiatives such as Read Across America Week, the Scholastic Book Fair, the NES Book Tasting, and MAP (Maximizing Alternative Preparation) in an effort to get students excited about reading and improve reading comprehension skills.

5. Educational Partnerships

NES has collaborated with many organizations in an effort to support our students. Our partnerships included:

  • North Clayton Middle School (NCMS Reads to NES) helped to strengthen literacy skills and encourage reading.
  • The AKA's of Atlanta offered food bags on Fridays to HED families.
  • The Christian Fellowship Baptist Church donated to support our school.
  • We also partnered with the Clayton County Police Department for both our Career Day and Fall Festival along with the Fire Department.
